SUMMARY:MEL DIALOGUE on evaluating multi-actor collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, June 5th at 14.00-15.30 hrs CEST \nRegistration: here. \nThis MEL Dialogue brings together key perspectives on how to evaluate collaboration between various partners in DeSIRA projects. Almost all DeSIRA projects involve living labs\, platforms\, or partnerships of different stakeholders in the Agriculture Innovation System. Clearly\, collaboration among agri-food system actors plays an important role in fostering innovation. But how do they do this\, and when do we call that a success? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKoen Vervoort from the European Network on Living Labs\, ENoLL\, will present their Living Lab framework and assessment processes. The ENoLL assessment serves to enable certification of Living Labs\, and can also be used for accountability\, benchmarking\, value capturing\, and maturity assessments. \nErwan Sachet from the DeSIRA project Santes et Territoires will present the project’s experiences with using Development Evaluation during the start-up phase of the living labs in Senegal and Cambodia. \nThe DeSIRA MEL support team will present some other existing approaches and presents a new way of thinking about the functioning of MSP based on behavioral change theory. \nWe hope you and your project partners will join this session and share you experiences with evaluating multi-actor collaboration. You are also welcome to send your insights to use beforehand (use: service@desiralift.org). Attending this session may be of great interest to those who need to report on the DeSIRA results\, tell Stories of Change\, extract lessons learned\, or (re-) design projects. Please note that this session will be in English only. \nWho should attend? \nDeSIRA MEL practitioners\, project managers\, and communication specialists\, including people developing SoC. \nRegistration closes on Monday June3rd. After this\, you will receive a confirmation by email and the information to access the session. \nPlease note that previous MEL recordings and training material be accessed here. \nFor more information\, please contact Marlene Roefs at service@desiralift.org

SUMMARY:Online MEL Dialogue on methodologies
DESCRIPTION:Monday\, February 26th at 14hrs CET. \nThe first online MEL Dialogue offers an excellent opportunity to get firsthand knowledge of two practical MEL methods. \nRenowned MEL specialist\, Rick Davies will present ParEvo\, a new method he has developed for planning and review of projects with multiple stakeholders. ParEvo is a method in which multiple people explore alternative futures or histories and produce storylines about what did or could\, happen. Barbara van Mierlo\, professor at Wageningen University and Research\, has developed an excellent all-encompassing methodology for reflection and learning called Reflexive Monitoring in Action (RMA). The key in RMA is to trigger recurrent collective reflection on the results of actions undertaken in the light of systemic barriers as well as opportunities. The presentation will feed a dialogue on the MEL challenges and solutions encountered in DeSIRA. \nAttending this session may be of great interest to those who need to report on the DeSIRA results\, tell Stories of Change\, extract lessons learned\, or (re-)design projects. \nPlease note that this session will be held in English only \nWant to participate? \nRegistration link here. \nRegistration closes on February 23rd. After this\, you will receive a confirmation by email and the information to access the course. \nWho should attend \nDeSIRA MEL practitioners\, project managers\, and communication specialists\, including people developing SoC. \nFor more information please contact Marlene Roefs at service@desiralift.org

SUMMARY:Course: Participatory Video (PV) for Monitoring\, Evaluation and Learning (MEL). Module 9
DESCRIPTION:WHEN: This training will take place each Wednesday from April 12th until June 7th\, from 10-11.30 am CEST \nWHY: Much too often\, others – usually the project delivery staff – are reporting on the project results on behalf of participants. Furthermore\, these stories tend to be recorded in written format\, meaning that in contexts of low literacy\, the stories are being recorded in a medium that is inaccessible to the actually involved population. Using Participatory Video\, selected stories are recorded on video by participants themselves\, making the information accessible and useable. \nUsing PV can help participants tell their stories and communicate their perspectives in an accessible\, compelling and versatile format through a participatory process. We will use PV in combination with (an adapted version of) the Most Significant Change technique in order to gain valuable insights on Monitoring and Evaluation. \nThis course will run over 9 sessions. Each session will be 1.5 hours\, in which we will give a theoretical overview\, we will explain practical PV exercises that are fun and participatory for you to repeat in your own projects\, will have brief brainstorming sessions and there will be a short homework session. \nThroughout these 9 modules\, we will dive into the ´why´ participatory video and how this is different from other participatory methods and/or documentary filmmaking. We will touch upon the ethics and challenges of facilitating a PV process and how to deal with difficult situations. After this\, we will focus on the crossroads of PV and M&E and go through the different steps and exercises. We will end with how to conduct a participatory paper edit and how to disseminate the final video. \nWHO: This training course will be given by Manon Koningstein\, an independent consultant on audiovisual communications with multiple years of experience in conducting PV courses and training with CGIAR as well as with InsightShare. \nWHOM: We invite the Communication focal points as well as M&E officers of the interested DeSIRA projects to attend.

Each session will be two hours\, in which we will give a theoretical overview\, we will explain practical PV exercises that are fun and participatory for you to repeat in your own projects\, will have brief brainstorming sessions and there will be a short homework session.
