SUMMARY:Webinar - Scaling DeSIRA - Innovation processes and scalability - English
DESCRIPTION:Date: Wednesday 13th December 2023 \n10:00-12:00 CEST English session for DeSIRA Projects in Asia\, East and English-speaking Africa \nObjectives of the webinar: \n\nThis webinar is the first of series on how the innovations processes promoted by DeSIRA projects and their organizations\, can or should be brough to scale. It targets projects that are coming to an end as well as those that need to start building their exit strategy as part of their theory of change.  \nThe aim of the webinar is to review what processes supported by DeSIRA projects need to be continued – in particular those innovations targeting behavioral changes that require time and cannot be scaled out or up but rather disseminated – and what processes can move beyond pilots or proofs of concepts through a blend of specific funding (investments\, market access)\, and a conducive environment.  \nThe webinar will help identify scalable processes and those to be continued as well as who should be reached out to and how\, to ensure this continuation. \nFull programme \n\nRegistration link

SUMMARY:Cop Webinar 4: Managing innovation agendas: how DeSIRA projects balance national and global priorities - French and Spanish
DESCRIPTION:Date: Monday 9th October 2023   \n16:00-18:00 CEST French and Spanish Session for DeSIRA projects in Francophone Africa and Latin America simultaneous interpretation FR-ES will be available. \nRegistration link (The meeting will be held via Zoom ) \nFor more detailed information click here \nObjectives of the webinar: \nThe aim of the webinar is to review how the agricultural innovations promoted by DeSIRA projects simultaneously relate to national and international agendas\, and to the needs of those to which those innovations are directed. How this creates tensions between projects implementation and expectations\, and how projects themselves and some of the mechanisms they entail can help (re) connect needs and interests\, across the various levels of innovation niches\, innovation support services\, the national and international agricultural innovation system\, and generate impact owned and acknowledged by all.  \nThe webinar will help identify trade-off areas in innovation agendas and mechanisms for alignement between local and global initiatives. \nBackground and questions \nThe EU-funded DeSIRA initiative (Development Smart Innovation through Research in Agriculture\, in short DeSIRA) was launched in 2018 with the aim of strengthening Research and Innovation\, within an AIS perspective\, in order to support the sustainable transformation of agri-food systems. \nResearch and innovation projects are implemented against the backdrop of broader international and regional agendas such as UN SDGs\, the UN Sustainable Food Systems\, the EU Green Deal\, or the One Health approach\, all calling for changes and innovations in Agriculture and Food. \nThese agendas themselves result from vast consultation processes\, within countries\, regional and international arenas\, in which civil society\, research organizations\, and government organizations take part. \nInternational partners such as the FAO\, the European Union\, or IFAD and donors then translate these agendas into funding opportunities for research organizations\, in partnership with other organizations\, to design and implement projects meant to meet the objectives of this international agenda. \nTranslating and meeting these objectives through project activities remains challenging due to dynamics and contingencies of context\, particularly when it comes to partners’ interests and beneficiaries’ needs. \nProjects however intend to ensure uptake and wherever possible scaling of their results\, by their direct stakeholders and at the level of the Agricultural Innovation System into which they are set. As such they loop back into local\, national and broader agendas to which they bring a contribution. \nBy doing so\, they contribute to further setting innovation agendas. \nThe two questions underlying this webinar are: \n\nWhen and how do tensions between projects’ innovation agendas and broader innovation agendas occur?\nShould projects plan and develop strategies to help synchronize agendas\, using their activities as drivers for collective action?

SUMMARY:Conference on Living Labs\, organised by Africa Europe Science and Innovation Forum
DESCRIPTION:ENoLL @ AERAP23 \nAfrica Europe Science and Innovation Forum\nBrussels\, 9th of March 2023 at 17h00 CET in-person and online\nLiving labs: an emerging area of collaboration between Africa and the EU \nAfrica is building its own way to a digital society. A new generation of entrepreneurs\, policy officers\, and social innovators are working on setting up new African digital innovation ecosystems. \nThe EU can collaborate with this effort\, sharing experiences peer-to-peer and learning with African colleagues. One of the areas identified by African Countries for creating more sustainable and collaborative digital societies in innovation ecosystems is to envisage open living labs as a strategy. \nWithin the context of the AERAP Africa-Europe Science Collaboration Platform\, a dedicated session on living labs will take place on the 9th of March 2023 at 17h00 CET in person and online. The in-person meeting will take place at the South Africa Embassy\, Rue Montoyer 19\, 1000 Brussels. \nLiving Labs (LLs) are open innovation ecosystems in real-life environments using iterative feedback processes throughout a lifecycle approach to innovation to create sustainable impact. They focus on co-creation\, rapid prototyping and testing and scaling-up innovations and businesses\, providing (different types of) joint value to the involved stakeholders. In this context\, living labs operate as intermediaries/orchestrators among citizens\, research organisations\, companies and government agencies/levels. Within a wide variety of living labs\, they all have common characteristics but multiple different implementations. \nThe European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) is an international non-profit association that aims to promote and enhance user-driven innovation ecosystems\, particularly the Living Labs concept globally. ENoLL focuses on facilitating knowledge exchange\, joint actions\, and project partnerships among its almost 600 members\, supporting EU policy implementation\, promoting living labs\, and enabling their adoption worldwide. ENoLL currently has 164 active Members: 80% in Europe and 20% globally. \nThe session will promote an open debate on how to foster future collaborations and support the creation of open innovation ecosystems in Africa while sharing the experiences of existing running projects.\nSpeakers include:\nMartina Desole\, ENoLL Director (Moderator)\nMamadou Ndir\, Alboury Ndao\, Ndeye Astou Sene\, FDSUT Senegal\nArtur Serra\, i2cat Foundation\, Barcelona.
