Perspective Briefs

From May 2023 to January 2025, DeSIRA-LIFT organised in person regional meetings.

These events called DeSIRA Connect Days were the only events that gathered the DeSIRA Community of all DeSIRA projects together with other stakeholders. They brought together over 350 participants, nearly all projects took part as well as national bodies, and 180 regional organisations NGOs, FOs, Private Sector and Civil Society organisations. Different teams were assembled in each region and several organisations were associated to their preparation and implementation, among them FARA who was a critical partner of the to events in Africa but also Universidad Javeriana, University of Ghana, VAAS, FAO, CIRAD, IICA, the Alisea network, just to name a few.

They provided a unique overview of the DeSIRA initiative as well as key learnings about DeSIRA projects and how they contributed to national, regional and international agendas.

The Perspective Briefs on this page provide summaries of the discussions as well as recommendations on the way forward.

The mechanism of the DeSIRA Connect Days was presented during the Boosting agrifood research and innovation cooperation for impact at scale conference held in Brussels under the auspices of the European Commission. You can read more by clicking on the button below.
