On December 19 and 20, 2024, the AcceSS project organized in Bobo-Dioulasso, in the IRSS meeting room, a workshop to revitalize the Union of Simplified Cooperative Societies of Bama Rice Parboilers (USCOSER-B).

 This activity responds to the desire of USCOSER-B to raise awareness among its members about associative life and to identify corrective actions for the organization and operation of the Union for greater satisfaction of the needs of the members.

When diagnosing the capacity building needs of the Multi-Stakeholder Innovation Partnership (MIP) around Bama parboiled rice, the ability to collaborate was selected as one of the functional capacities on which priority action can be taken to resolve the maximum number of problems facing the MIP. This is how the stakeholders proposed to carry out an action to strengthen USCOSER-B on good cooperation practices to achieve their common objectives.

The overall objective of the workshop is to strengthen the commitment of USCOSER-B members in the life of the union by raising awareness of good cooperation practices and co-constructing collective solutions to improve the level of organization and operation of the union. It is also about improving the knowledge of USCOSER-B members on the legislation and regulations relating to professional agricultural organizations.

The workshop was led by Mr. BADO Emile, consultant and expert in the animation of associative life as well as in legislation and regulations applicable to professional agricultural organizations with the support of PIM facilitators.

The workshop was conducted in a participatory manner, alternating between group work and restitutions followed by discussions in plenary. These discussions focused on the main aspects related to the life and organization of the Union:

– Management of activities;
– Operation of governance bodies;
– Management of the organization’s resources.

The workshop concluded with the identification of specific actions to be implemented to improve these various aspects mentioned above. Participants committed to implementing these recommendations in order to strengthen the Union’s performance.
