1. Navigating policymaker relations : Participants expressed a keen interest in developing strategies to establish and enhance relations with policymakers. The session highlighted the importance of understanding policymakers’ needs and expectations, fostering collaborative dialogue, and building effective advocacy channels taking advantage of opportunity windows that may arise.
2. Strategic dissemination approaches : Effective dissemination of policy briefs emerged as a key element to be addressed by Desira projects. The session emphasized the integration of policy brief dissemination within the already mentioned collaborative dialogue and advocacy efforts, capitalizing on opportunity windows, and involving policymakers iteratively during the writing process.
3. Tailoring policy briefs for impact : The session emphasized the need to craft policy briefs that resonate with policymakers. Participants discussed techniques for tailoring content to align with policymakers’ priorities and presenting evidence in a compelling, attractive and accessible manner.
